Maximizing the Lifespan of Your Candles: Tips for a Cleaner Burn
Did you know that making a few small adjustments can help extend the life of your candles and provide a cleaner burn? Here are some tips we've learned over the years:
- Before each burn, trim the wick to 1/4 inch using a wick trimmer to ensure a cleaner burn. (Note: Our candle wicks are already pre-trimmed and ready for your first burn.)
- Burn your candle for 3-4 hours at a time to help it burn evenly and prevent tunneling.
- To maximize the scent throw, close windows, and doors.
- Keep the wax pool free of wick trimmings, matches, and debris.
- Instead of blowing out the flame, dip the wick in liquid wax or use a candle extinguisher to prevent smoke.
- When only about 1/2 inch of wax remains, it's time to retire the candle. Continuing to burn it can cause the vessel to overheat, as the flame needs a solid base of wax for support.
